
There is much value in PTZ cameras for any active video surveillance while providing more flexibility in a select area of coverage. These cameras, like the one used in this example, can be connected to digital video encoders (the Verint series in this case) to convert the analog signal to digital, thus relinquishing the demand on processing power to keep up with the motion and movement to the encoder itself. The vast majority of today’s PTZ cameras are still analog NTSC cameras because they are still used for active monitoring of an area of coverage.
